Guest Melody Thomas Posted August 20, 2014 at 10:19 AM Report Share Posted August 20, 2014 at 10:19 AM At our upcoming Board meeting, new officers will be elected. Due to previous issues (dereliction of duty), I feel a particular board member is not a qualifed candidate for any office. Should her name be placed into nomination, as an ex-officio (past president) of the board, may I object?
jstackpo Posted August 20, 2014 at 10:58 AM Report Share Posted August 20, 2014 at 10:58 AM You can debate the merits, or advisability, of his/her election and, of course, vote against the person (by voting for a better candidate), but that is the limit of your ability to "block" such a nomination. If there is nothing in your bylaws which makes this member ineligible to hold the office to which she is nominated, you have no grounds upon which you can properly object to her nomination.
