Can the elected chairman of an event ignore the paying vote of members. Can the president have a informal meeting over the phone?

We voted a member to be chairman of an event. A issue came up with some tee shirts being

changed(color); the president addressed the situation to the chairman;nothing was done. The president made phone calls to the paying dues members; out of the 23 names given to her by the financial secretary, she contacted 16 that said they wanted the original color shirt that had been

sent out months ago by mail.

This elected chairman told the president and others the members had nothing to do with the

re-union as far as voting.

This chairman has brought discord between the committee members elected to get this re-union

together; with such words as stay in you lane and its your call. Instead of working together,

he wants them to hide what they are doing, and some are falling for what he is saying.

He knew the president was contacting the members,so he had the lady over the tee shirt orders,

to get the printer to start printing the tee shirts that she had changed.

What can the president and the paying dues members do about this situation. We know now its to close to the re-union on the 09-18-2014, but how can we still address this issue with this

chairman running a mock;ignoring paying dues members wishes.

We are having a meeting on 09-06-2014. What can we say about members of this organization

voting rights. And what if any thing, can the president do about this situation. Our bylaws does

say she is over all official activities, finances and committees appointments.

He started telling everyone to stay in their lane, as if no one could cross over and have a say about another committee, even if they saw something going wrong.

Are we talking about the same thing?

If the event chairman is chairman of a committee, then it would seem the President can replace him, as he has authority over committee appointments. If the "chairman" title is purely honorary and he is not part of a committee, then it would seem that the membership would replace him.

I agree with Mr. Guest that this sounds very much like the situation presented by Mr. Michael  Farris in this thread:

http://robertsrules.forumflash.com/index.php?/topic/23061-business-mgr-volunteered-to-be-chairman-of-upcoming-class-reunion-is-president-still-in-control-of-event/

Are we talking about the same organization/reunion committee?

If so, there seems to be a lot of confusion and missing information as to exactly how the committee was formed (who appointed or elected the members?) and how and by whom was the chairman appointed or elected?   I have seen conflicting statements as to whether the president appointed him or if he was chosen by the assembly.

Whoever (or whichever group) selected the committee members and appointed or selected the chairman has the power to remove them.

What do the bylaws say about appointing committees and committee chairs?    What did the motion to create the committee say about how to select the members and the chair?

The organization (whatever it is) is in ultimate control of things, not the president or the reunion committee chairman.

Edited to add:  By the way, the parent body (presumably the organization) has the power to issue instructions to a committee.
