Guest Don Sweeney Posted September 5, 2014 at 02:14 PM Report Share Posted September 5, 2014 at 02:14 PM Can a spouse, who also is an official member of the governing board, be asked to not attend a meeting of the Board where the sole purpose is to conduct the annual evaluation of the CEO? Edgar Guest Posted September 5, 2014 at 02:23 PM Report Share Posted September 5, 2014 at 02:23 PM She can be asked not to attend but, as a member of the body that is meeting, she has every right to attend. Presumably the voters knew she was married to the CEO when they elected her. Or whoever hired the CEO knew he was married to a board member when they hired him. Or both? Edited to add: I suppose they could have gotten married after they took office. It doesn't change the answer and I'm definitely spending too much time thinking about this couple. Once this thread is moved from the Advanced Discussion forum to the General Discussion forum I'll rest easier.
