Guest Kim Brouwer Posted September 8, 2014 at 10:57 PM Report Share Posted September 8, 2014 at 10:57 PM We have a 5 member board and with 3 members present we have a quorum. What would be considered a majority vote with those 3 members present? Do all three have to agree to have the 3 of 5 majority or can it be a split 2-1 vote or 2-0 with an abstain and still pass because it is the majority of the members present at the time of the meeting? Edgar Guest Posted September 8, 2014 at 11:38 PM Report Share Posted September 8, 2014 at 11:38 PM A majority vote is the affirmative vote of more than half of the members who are present and voting. A vote of 1-0 is a majority vote. Abstentions don't count. Absentees don't count.
