Edgar Guest Posted September 9, 2014 at 10:04 PM Report Share Posted September 9, 2014 at 10:04 PM It's a good idea to notify all members of all meetings. But how is it that, if it happens every year, you didn't know that this annual meeting was about to be held? And why do you think you need two weeks' notice? Tom Coronite Posted September 9, 2014 at 10:29 PM Report Share Posted September 9, 2014 at 10:29 PM I think Cheryl is asking about 2 weeks notice that someone intends to run against her. And if that's so, Cheryl, no. RONR doesn't require you get a heads up on someone's desire for an office.
Richard Brown Posted September 9, 2014 at 10:32 PM Report Share Posted September 9, 2014 at 10:32 PM I'm not sure, but I suspect the original poster is asking if she should be notified two weeks prior to the meeting that someone is going to run against her. If that is what she is asking, then the answer is no, there is no obligation in RONR that existing officers, etc, be notified in advance that they will have opponents at the annual meeting. However, her bylaws might require such notice. I agree with the statement by Mr. Guest that notice of the annual meeting should be sent to all members. I suspect the bylaws require notice of said meeting. That is something the original poster will have to look up for herself. Edited to add: I see that 1stChurch and I were thinking the same thing at the same time. :-)
