Guest Angela Cohen Posted September 12, 2014 at 08:20 PM Report Share Posted September 12, 2014 at 08:20 PM I was told to talk to the chair about a disruptive nonboard member who gets up from the audience and walks around and stares at board members he perceives to be his enemies. How do I, a board member, or the chair, handle this?

How do I, a board member, or the chair, handle this? Persons who are not members of the body that is meeting (in this case, persons who aren't members of the board) have no right to be there. If they can't behave they should be ordered (by the board) to leave. If they won't leave, call the cops.

If they can't behave they should be ordered (by the board) to leave. If they won't leave, call the cops.Though since this person is not a Board member the Chair on his own authority could order his removal from the meeting. That being said, the Board showing unity (as opposed to the Chair acting on the Board's behalf) in ordering him being thrown out might (and hopefully would) carry a stronger message.
