Denurban Posted September 16, 2014 at 07:44 PM Report Share Posted September 16, 2014 at 07:44 PM At a regular meeting of club members with bylaws and using Roberts Rules. Is a member able to stand and move that the business (agenda) of meeting be moved to next regular meeting and held at next meeting date. Is there a way to stop or hold the motion? Dan Honemann Posted September 16, 2014 at 08:21 PM Report Share Posted September 16, 2014 at 08:21 PM There is no such thing as a "motion to table meeting".
Timothy Posted September 16, 2014 at 08:49 PM Report Share Posted September 16, 2014 at 08:49 PM Is this not just a poorly worded motion to adjourn? The way to stop the motion is to vote against it.
Gary Novosielski Posted September 17, 2014 at 01:00 PM Report Share Posted September 17, 2014 at 01:00 PM At a regular meeting of club members with bylaws and using Roberts Rules. While the motion is pending, you can move to postpone it to the next meeting. You can't postpone the entire agenda at once, and why would you want to? (Although moving to adjourn would essentially have that effect.) I agree with Messrs, G. and F. that the best way to avoid passing a bad motion is to debate against it and vote against it.
