Chris Harrison Posted September 26, 2014 at 05:26 PM Report Share Posted September 26, 2014 at 05:26 PM If the proxy holder is a member of the body which is meeting he or she has the same rights as any other member. If the proxy holder is not a member of the body which is meeting then you need to look to the bylaws to determine what rights holding the proxy gives this person. Richard Brown Posted September 26, 2014 at 07:14 PM Report Share Posted September 26, 2014 at 07:14 PM Can someone holding a proxy vote for someone else make a motion on the floor Agreeing with Chris Harrison and Guest Nancy, I will just add that sometimes the wording of the proxy itself is controlling. Proxies may be limited to voting and may even direct the proxy holder on how to vote. They can be limited to only a specific race or issue. Or they can be more general, giving the proxy holder essentially the same rights that the member would have if personally present.
