judelynnh Posted October 10, 2014 at 10:12 AM Report Share Posted October 10, 2014 at 10:12 AM When is the secretary required to provide the minutes of previous meeting. We meet once a month from may thru October. We now only get them at the opening of the meeting and have no time to actually review them as she is reading them. Its hard to listen, read and absorb at the same time. We don't have time to think if everything has been addressed. Sometimes it's even hard to actually approve them
Dan Honemann Posted October 10, 2014 at 10:18 AM Report Share Posted October 10, 2014 at 10:18 AM It appears as if your secretary is doing all that is required of her in this connection.
judelynnh Posted October 10, 2014 at 10:50 AM Author Report Share Posted October 10, 2014 at 10:50 AM Can we ask to receive them sooner. I have read that drafts are used so that any corrections could be made before final approval.

I have read that drafts are used so that any corrections could be made before final approval. You could adopt a rule to require that the minutes be required to be sent out earlier. jstackpo Posted October 10, 2014 at 11:11 AM Report Share Posted October 10, 2014 at 11:11 AM You can certainly ask, but don't be too demanding of the Secretary -- I have been one for an organization or two. If you, collectively, want to ask in a more formal manner, you could pass a standing rule with a time in it. According to RONR the usual rule is that the minutes are read at the next meeting -- there is no requirement in the book for distribution of copies. So pay attention!
