Guest Frank Posted October 11, 2014 at 04:04 PM Report Share Posted October 11, 2014 at 04:04 PM Hello, I have been a member of several organizations through the years. When an Board member misses 3 Board of Director's meetings, and or membership meetings without cause. That person is automatically removed from that particular office. Since they did not inform the Chair officer that he / or she would be absent. Is there any thing in Robert's Rules on this subject. Please advise, Thank you. jstackpo Posted October 11, 2014 at 04:06 PM Report Share Posted October 11, 2014 at 04:06 PM Nothing in RONR. Any automatic "removal from office" provisions would have to be in your bylaws.
Kim Goldsworthy Posted October 11, 2014 at 06:23 PM Report Share Posted October 11, 2014 at 06:23 PM If you look through the current edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised, you will find NO PENALTY for missing meetings. Likewise, there is no such requirement such as, "To pre-authorize, or pre-excuse, a planned absence for the upcoming meeting." Your rule is a customized rule of your organization. You are free to adopt such rules.Just be aware that your rule did not come out of any edition of Robert's Rules of Order.
