Gary Novosielski Posted October 16, 2014 at 02:14 PM Report Share Posted October 16, 2014 at 02:14 PM Well, after you adjourn, everyone will probably go home, and besides, you can't make motions after you adjourn, so I'd stick with before. George Mervosh Posted October 16, 2014 at 02:23 PM Report Share Posted October 16, 2014 at 02:23 PM Is the motion to go into executive session made before or after the motion to adjourn? If the reason for the question is that you want a smooth transition from an open portion of your meeting to the executive session, there is no need, and it's a really bad idea for other reasons to adopt a motion to adjourn. At the time you wish to close the meeting to those not entitled or invited to stay, a motion to go into executive session can be adopted by majority vote. The only time to adopt a motion to adjourn is when it's time to leave.
