Guest concerned taxpayer Posted December 9, 2014 at 09:34 PM Report Share Posted December 9, 2014 at 09:34 PM I have been to several types of meetings over the years and it has always been my experience that the president or chairperson refrains from voting on motions made by the board or organization unless there is a tie in votes, then the president casts their vote to break a tie. When is it acceptable for the president or chairperson to vote?
jstackpo Posted December 9, 2014 at 09:37 PM Report Share Posted December 9, 2014 at 09:37 PM The president was behaving quite "acceptably" in the situation(s) you describe. He/she can also vote "acceptably" in a non-tie situation if the decision is by ballot.

Hieu H. Huynh Posted December 10, 2014 at 02:31 AM Report Share Posted December 10, 2014 at 02:31 AM Guest_orooney, please post a new question as a new topic instead of adding to an existing thread. Think of this thread as Guest_concerned taxpayer's thread. This way, the answers to your question will not be confused with the answers to the question that Guest_concerned taxpayer had, especially if they're completely different situations, and Guest_concerned taxpayer comes back with follow up questions to the original topic.
