Hieu H. Huynh Posted December 11, 2014 at 12:28 PM Report Share Posted December 11, 2014 at 12:28 PM If you were nominated by the nominating committee, you could inform the committee to withdraw your nomination. If you were nominated from the floor, you could ask permission of the assembly (which includes the maker of the nomination) to withdraw your nomination. In the end, you can decline an election to office if you are elected. If you are asking if you were nominated and withdrew but changed your mind, I suppose you could be nominated again. lcotler Posted December 17, 2014 at 09:50 PM Report Share Posted December 17, 2014 at 09:50 PM URGENT: If only one person is nominated for a position, is that person instantly elected by acclimation or does a vote still have to be taken? And is a majority still requited to win? And how do we know if anyone responds to this question?
Edgar Guest Posted December 17, 2014 at 10:01 PM Report Share Posted December 17, 2014 at 10:01 PM If only one person is nominated for a position, is that person instantly elected by acclamation or does a vote still have to be taken? If your bylaws don't require a ballot vote, the chair can declare the sole nominee elected "by acclamation".And is a majority still required to win? Yes (if there's a vote). And how do we know if anyone responds to this question? You check back here later. Or click on "Follow this topic".By the way, this forum works best if you'll post your new question as a new topic. Think of this as Jacob's topic. Josh Martin Posted December 17, 2014 at 11:54 PM Report Share Posted December 17, 2014 at 11:54 PM And is a majority still requited to win?I concur with the previous response, and would add that if a vote is required by the bylaws, it should be noted that blank ballots or votes for "no" or "none of the above" are not counted. The only way to vote against a candidate is to vote for someone else.
Guest Bob Posted December 18, 2014 at 01:37 AM Report Share Posted December 18, 2014 at 01:37 AM If an Organization that consists of Pres, VP, Treasurer, Secretary and 3 general board positions exist, and during annual meeting no one runs for the Treasurer position, who would take on that position? jstackpo Posted December 18, 2014 at 01:40 AM Report Share Posted December 18, 2014 at 01:40 AM Depending on your bylaws, the current treasurer might continue in the position. Check the bylaws where they deal with the term in office.
Guest Bob Posted December 18, 2014 at 01:44 AM Report Share Posted December 18, 2014 at 01:44 AM Thank you, however in the bylaws there is no provision and current Treasurer will not keep position
Hieu H. Huynh Posted December 18, 2014 at 01:54 AM Report Share Posted December 18, 2014 at 01:54 AM Also, Guest_Bob, please post a new question as a new topic instead of adding to an existing thread. Think of this thread as Guest_Jacob's thread. This way, the answers to your question will not be confused with the answers to the question that Guest_Jacob had, especially if they're completely different situations, and Guest_Jacob comes back with follow up questions to the original topic. I think this thread may already be confusing with details from lcotler's unrelated questions and responses.
