Can non board members be at the vote for removal of a board member?

At my removal 4 non board members but members of the society were allowed to hear what charges where and the vote outcome. There was also a non member at the vote. I asked for a closed session during this part of the meeting and was told it is an open meeting. Now 4 members know the exact charges and outcome of the vote which was then told to many members. I thought that only the board can say that I am no longer on the board and nothing else. This goes to my post of board member being voted off on 12/23/14.

It was up to a majority of the Board to decide if guests (whether association members or complete strangers) could be present during the meeting.  Evidently, by not supporting your request for a closed meeting, the majority went along with whoever told you that it would be an open meeting.

RONR requires that a trial must be held in executive session and that information from the trial (save for the simple fact that someone was removed from office or the society) cannot be shared outside of the society. In this case, it seems your bylaws do not require a trial, and the information was not shared outside the society.

From what I'm hearing in previous threads, however, your board's actions in removing you were clearly egregious, so it would seem to me that such openness is to your advantage.
