rotfl Posted December 29, 2014 at 09:01 PM Report Share Posted December 29, 2014 at 09:01 PM The current president of our club frequently calls or emails - individually - board members to get approval for various expenditures or other items he wants approved. No discussion ensues. Is there a way to stop this practice?
Edgar Guest Posted December 29, 2014 at 09:06 PM Report Share Posted December 29, 2014 at 09:06 PM Yes. Tell your president that, unless your bylaws (or some superior rule or law) permit absentee voting, all decisions by the board must take place at an in-person meeting. And debate (i.e. discussion) is almost always in order.
Bruce Lages Posted December 29, 2014 at 09:47 PM Report Share Posted December 29, 2014 at 09:47 PM If you can also convince your fellow board members that absentee voting and decisions by email are not proper, then you all, individually, could tell the president when he calls that you will not consider anything until you are in a meeting. If none of the other board members will go along with his attempts, he should get the message pretty quickly.
