Guest Dpierce Posted December 29, 2014 at 11:06 PM Report Share Posted December 29, 2014 at 11:06 PM A motion was seconded. It was ignored in favor of a different motion, which was voted on without consideration of the first motion. The meeting was the day before Christmas Eve. Members had been gone, and we were unable to reach others until now. Can I call point of order, and would the vote made be null and void? Thanks! Edgar Guest Posted December 29, 2014 at 11:09 PM Report Share Posted December 29, 2014 at 11:09 PM Well, the facts are sketchy but I suspect it's too late to raise a point of order. If the motion was defeated it can simply be made again. If the motion was adopted it might be possible to rescind or otherwise amend it. (By the way, the fact that the motion was seconded is immaterial.)
Hieu H. Huynh Posted December 29, 2014 at 11:13 PM Report Share Posted December 29, 2014 at 11:13 PM No, it's too late to raise a point of order on this issue now. The time to raise it was at the time it happened at the meeting.

It is too late for a Point of Order, but if the first motion was ignored, just bring it up again at the next meeting as it was never placed before the assembly. This may or may not be in order depending on what these motions were and if/how they are related to each other. More info from Guest_Dpierce would be helpful.
