Guest Brenda Posted January 6, 2015 at 12:48 AM Report Share Posted January 6, 2015 at 12:48 AM During an election for new HOA board members, lets say that three new people are eligible and elected to the board. How is it decided which three people leave the board? Are specific roles up for election, like president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer etc? Edgar Guest Posted January 6, 2015 at 12:50 AM Report Share Posted January 6, 2015 at 12:50 AM Well, first of all you'll need to distinguish between board members and officers. Then you'll have to read your bylaws. In some organizations the general membership elects the board members and then the board members elect the officers. In other organizations (most organizations?) the general membership elects both the board members and the officers. You'll also want to check your bylaws to see how long board members serve (i.e. the term of office). You can't elect three new members to the board unless the terms of office of three current board members are expiring.
