Richard Brown Posted January 7, 2015 at 06:00 PM Report Share Posted January 7, 2015 at 06:00 PM See if FAQ # 20 answers your question. If not, ask for more. http://www.robertsrules.com/faq.html#20 As you can see from the answer to that FAQ, the method and requirements depend on the precise wording in your bylaws regarding terms of office. In addition, the Vice President can always resign.
Josh Martin Posted January 7, 2015 at 07:15 PM Report Share Posted January 7, 2015 at 07:15 PM We are a senior center with a vice president that has been ill since Sept 2014 and may not return. How do we go about replacing the position?Once the position is vacant, the vacancy is filled by the procedure in your bylaws. Alternately, if your bylaws grant the board full power and authority over the affairs of the society between meetings of the membership, this includes the power to fill vacancies, even if this is not explicitly stated. If your bylaws are silent on vacancies and do not grant the board such authority, then an election is held by the same body which elected the VP in the first place.
