deepdiver Posted January 11, 2015 at 09:31 PM Report Share Posted January 11, 2015 at 09:31 PM Hello to everyone. I am new here, so bear with me. Coming up quickly are the elections for our Registered Society ( Sportsmen's Association), one week away. The current Vice President has just had a slander, libelous and uttering threats complaint filed against him to the local RCMP. These actions were/are against 2 directors of the same society. There is no time left to pursue expulsion or other remedies. Is it possible to not accept nomination. The current President is an employee of the Vp's business and is unwilling to deal with the situation and won't be at Annual General Meeting. His position is up for election also. He has chose no to be there.
Edgar Guest Posted January 11, 2015 at 09:32 PM Report Share Posted January 11, 2015 at 09:32 PM Is it possible to not accept nomination. No. If you don't think these persons should be elected, nominate, campaign for, and vote for someone else.

I totally agree with Edgar. Nominations are not 'accepted' through a vote or anything. All you need is a member willing to nominate someone (and a member can nominate himself/herself.) So, if you do not like a candidate, then nominate another person and then vote for the other candidate. It's as simple as that.
