Guest Kara Posted April 27, 2015 at 08:16 PM Report Share Posted April 27, 2015 at 08:16 PM We currently voted to changed our bylaws and make our VP and President positions 2 years in length instead of one. Does this apply only to those voted as President and VP moving forward or does it retroactively take over for those already voted into the positions? In other words, with whom does this change go into effect--current elected positions or those yet to be elected? Thank you,
Edgar Guest Posted April 27, 2015 at 08:31 PM Report Share Posted April 27, 2015 at 08:31 PM Absent any "proviso" to the contrary, the amendment to your bylaws takes effect immediately upon its adoption (i.e. right in the middle of the meeting). So it looks like your president and vice-president get another year in office. No big deal. That's not as bad as it would have been if you had reduced a two-year term to a one-year term.
