The Board has the authority to fill any vacancies other than President. so if they do that for the vacant vice president position, does the original elected one take over Jan 1st? The vice-president, who served as president for three months, is out of a job. Unless he was re-elected as vice-president. If, before January 1, the board filled the vacancy in the office of vice-president, that person only serves until the new term begins (on January 1). it best to think of the terms of office rather than who might be occupying the office at any given time. Once the vice-president became the president there was a one-year vacancy in the office of vice-president. So whoever was selected to serve as vice-president would serve for only one year.
