Guest Janet Posted May 6, 2015 at 07:45 PM Report Share Posted May 6, 2015 at 07:45 PM Does voting need to be done by show of hands? We have people wait to vote to see how our administration vote then follow their lead. In this day an age why can a vote not be done by electronic vote? People can be influenced by their peers. Any assistance in this would help me to understand. Thank you for your time.
jstackpo Posted May 6, 2015 at 07:52 PM Report Share Posted May 6, 2015 at 07:52 PM Actually, voice ("Ayes" and "Nays") or show of hands (in small groups) are the default standards. If you want a secret ballot, you have to move to have one -- majority decision -- whether it is a paper ballot or some sort of audience response system (hand-held clickers). Absentee voting (electronic, internet, or mail &c.) will require a bylaw provision to authorize.

It might take a special rule of order to use it but it will be akin to voting by ballot, only with instant results. Edited to take out the parenthetical comment.
