Guest Resembling the truth Posted July 2, 2015 at 06:27 AM Report Share Posted July 2, 2015 at 06:27 AM At a recent meeting, in a group where implementation of Robert's Rules is an ongoing 'project' with some resisting parties, the presiding officer was doing his duty by attempting to bring a member to order by asking him to wait (when he had spoken out of turn, inturrupting another member) to be recognized before speaking. The person in question he pointed somewhat angrily at the chairperson and snarled (really, he did) a response of "Don't say it like that!" And meant it as a direct standing command to the chairperson, who had used a firm but polite tone, as he had already done a few times during the meeting. The chair didn't really know what to say to that response, and let it go. How would you classify and handle such a response from a board member?
Timothy Posted July 2, 2015 at 11:55 AM Report Share Posted July 2, 2015 at 11:55 AM In my opinion, what the chair did was the best way to handle the situation.

If the board member continues to display such behavior, it may be necessary to call him to order.
