Guest Maxine Posted July 13, 2015 at 03:39 AM Report Share Posted July 13, 2015 at 03:39 AM If a new person is appointed to a committee during a voting stage, can that new member vote on the motions during this cycle?
jstackpo Posted July 13, 2015 at 06:51 AM Report Share Posted July 13, 2015 at 06:51 AM I am not clear what you mean by "voting stage" or "cycle" -- you must have some special rules that define them as RONR does not -- but the general rule from RONR is that a member of a body may vote on all issues that come up for a vote. It does not matter when (how long ago) the person became a member.
Rev Ed Posted July 13, 2015 at 03:38 PM Report Share Posted July 13, 2015 at 03:38 PM According to RONR once a member is elected (and accepts election), the member is deemed to take office and can vote on any and all motions that come up. Only the organization's own rules could say differently.
