Guest Laura Posted July 24, 2015 at 06:26 PM Report Share Posted July 24, 2015 at 06:26 PM While in a Board meeting (specifically, school board), while the public has a chance to speak in public comments, about an elimination of a position from FT to PT. Can the board answer their questions or concerns even though the issue is not on the agenda? Thank you
Timothy Posted July 24, 2015 at 06:33 PM Report Share Posted July 24, 2015 at 06:33 PM RONR would not prevent them from doing so. There may be a law that would prevent it. Thinking aloud here, but can it be said it isn't on the agenda if public comments are on the agenda?

Richard Brown Posted July 24, 2015 at 07:19 PM Report Share Posted July 24, 2015 at 07:19 PM Anything dealing with public comments at a meeting of a public body would likely be governed by your state's open meetings laws and the school board's on special rules of order. There is frequently a public comment at the end of meetings of public bodies at which time members of the public may speak and/or ask questions on topics which are not no the agenda.
