Guest Margaret Abernathy Posted September 29, 2015 at 11:21 AM Report Share Posted September 29, 2015 at 11:21 AM Can a Past President of an organization be considered ex officio if not holding any current office? Can he/she attend Planning Board Meetings if not invited? What if the reason wanting to attend is to control outcomes?
Dan Honemann Posted September 29, 2015 at 11:47 AM Report Share Posted September 29, 2015 at 11:47 AM No rule in RONR makes a past-president an ex-officio officer, or an ex-officio member of any board or committee. As far as the rules in RONR are concerned, a past-president is just another member of the organization (assuming he's still a member). Any rule conferring any special status on past-presidents will have to be found in the organization's own rules.
