Guest Barbara Murray Posted October 28, 2015 at 02:20 AM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 02:20 AM Our Bylaws state that the nominating committee will select a slate of officers & board members and present to the membership no later than September 1 of each year. At the October meeting, our members can nominate additional members for any position, as long as the person nominated agrees in writing or by attending that meeting in person. The vote is then taken at the November meeting. This year there was an unfortunate situation that occurred on the date of the October meeting & no meeting was held. There was an individual who wants to nominate someone for a Board Member position, but we do not know how to handle this properly per Robert's Rules. Can someone help us with this, please? Gary Novosielski Posted October 28, 2015 at 02:28 AM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 02:28 AM Unless your bylaws prohibit further nominations, someone can move to reopen nominations at the next meeting.Nothing you have paraphrased shows that to be the case. But your organization has to interpret its bylaws for itself.
Hieu H. Huynh Posted October 28, 2015 at 02:29 AM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 02:29 AM Nominations from the floor could be made immediately before the elections. Also, members are free to write in the name of a candidate on the ballot.
