Guest confused in kentucky Posted May 28, 2016 at 03:15 PM Report Share Posted May 28, 2016 at 03:15 PM Hello, Our homeowners association is calling for a special meeting of the board of directors to vote for the removal of the president from her office and the election of her successor. This is removal-of-officer&election-of-successor specifically permitted in our by-laws. QUESTION : Can the president still be the chair at this meeting? It seems that she would have a conflict of interest. Is there a way to name the VP to be chair for the meeting? There may not be enough votes for a 2/3 suspension of the Rules. Hieu H. Huynh Posted May 28, 2016 at 03:33 PM Report Share Posted May 28, 2016 at 03:33 PM No, the president should not preside over her removal. See "Removal of presiding officer from chair for all or part of a session" in RONR 11th ed., pp. 651-653.
