Guest gigi Posted January 12, 2017 at 10:17 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2017 at 10:17 PM When the Chairman is not present at a meeting, the Vice Chair will conduct. We have 6 voting members including the Vice Chair vote, but when she is conducting meeting she does not vote, however, how would I document the motion, vote 5 in favor and 1 not voting, absent, abstain??? Joshua Katz Posted January 12, 2017 at 10:57 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2017 at 10:57 PM In general, unless a counted vote is ordered, you'd record the motion as having carried.

Do your rules require the chair to not vote (see FAQ #1)?
Richard Brown Posted January 13, 2017 at 02:19 AM Report Share Posted January 13, 2017 at 02:19 AM Agreeing with the previous responses, in committees and small boards, the chairman usually votes along with everyone else. Committees also don't keep detailed minutes, but may do so if desired. The minutes would normally just say that the motion was adopted and would not mention the vote count.
