Guest Joseph Doherty Posted January 28, 2017 at 10:37 PM Report Share Posted January 28, 2017 at 10:37 PM Is it permissible under RONR for a member of a committee out of which a resolutions has been proposed to an assembly move to amend that resolution. The question comes from a leadership council that approved an agenda and resolutions for a organization wide annual Meeting. A single individual on the leadership committee opposed the Resolution but it passed by majority and is to be presented at the Annual Meeting. The individual however, is intending to move to altar both the Agenda (also determined by the leadership Committee of which he is a part) and the Resolution. Is this permissible? Joshua Katz Posted January 28, 2017 at 10:48 PM Report Share Posted January 28, 2017 at 10:48 PM Yes, unless it happens to violate other rules of your organization (such as notice requirements).
Richard Brown Posted January 28, 2017 at 10:55 PM Report Share Posted January 28, 2017 at 10:55 PM I agree with Godelfan, at least as far as amending the resolution goes. However, I don't understand why the agenda needs to be amended. You appear to have some customized agenda procedure. However, under the rules in RONR, an agenda may be amended at a meeting. The fact that the member was on the committee that proposed the resolution does not prohibit him from proposing an amendment to it.
