Are you sure that's all it says? It would be unusual for your bylaws to make no provision for filling vacancies in office.

It does state further with regards to time in office etc. but doe not state the specifics of accepting the resignation.  My thought is to hold an Executive meeting to officially make a motion to accept the resignation in order to satisfy any reprecussion and then proceed with a special election to fill the vacancy.
