Guest Cheryl Posted July 20, 2017 at 05:01 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2017 at 05:01 PM Three questions: 1. Does the secretary report need a motion for approval or can it be submitted for filing? 2. Does the treasurer report need a motion for approval or can it be submitted for filing? 3. Is a quorum needed to accept reports for filing?
Joshua Katz Posted July 20, 2017 at 06:33 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2017 at 06:33 PM No motions are needed to accept/approve/adopt reports. The minutes should be adopted. Any recommendations in reports should be moved and dealt with accordingly. In order to make a report at a meeting, the dominant opinion here seems to be that a quorum must be present since receiving reports is not one of the 4 things that may be done in the absence of a quorum. Right. Any reports given in the absence of a quorum will not be an official report of an officer/board/committee.

I don't believe there is a single reference in RONR about "adopting" minutes.

Guest Who's Coming to Dinner Posted July 21, 2017 at 02:28 AM Report Share Posted July 21, 2017 at 02:28 AM The minutes already belong to the assembly; there is no need to adopt them as the assembly's own.
