Guest James Posted April 18, 2018 at 06:48 PM Report Share Posted April 18, 2018 at 06:48 PM I have a question concerning whether or not the finance report or proposed budget is suppose to be motioned to accept and voted on are should it just be accepted? Ann Rempel Posted April 18, 2018 at 08:15 PM Report Share Posted April 18, 2018 at 08:15 PM A budget should be adopted by the body that has authority to do so. Check your bylaws to see who has the authority. A monthly financial report would not be adopted -- only the auditor's report is adopted. Atul Kapur Posted April 19, 2018 at 12:31 AM Report Share Posted April 19, 2018 at 12:31 AM The monthly financial report should not be "accepted" either. To accept a report is the same as to adopt it. Unless there are any questions based on the report, the Chair should just move on to the next item of business. Page 477, lines 6-10 describe the "Treasurer's report" and says that "Such a report requires no action by the assembly." "No action of acceptance by the assembly is required -- or proper -- on a financial report of the treasurer unless it is of sufficient importance, as an annual report, to be referred to auditors." (p. 479, lines 5-8)
