reegie2 Posted May 10, 2018 at 03:17 PM Report Share Posted May 10, 2018 at 03:17 PM rules of organization require that prospective member be interviewed and if approved by committee the approval to be delivered to membership for its approval. If members approve of the new prospect then the prospect goes to the installation procedure. In our case the prospect was never presented to the membership in error and the prospect went through the installation . Do we ask for membership approval after the fact or is the new member in good standing?

Do we ask for membership approval after the fact or is the new member in good standing? As I understand the facts, this person is not properly a member of the society since his application was not approved by the membership, which is required by your rules. He will need to be approved by the membership in order to be a member of the society. So far as RONR is concerned, an installation is purely ceremonial, and it would seem to me that the fact that the member was (improperly) installed has no bearing on whether he is a member of the society.
