Guest board1234 Posted June 5, 2018 at 10:59 PM Report Share Posted June 5, 2018 at 10:59 PM Hi! We have a sudden vacancy mid-year. We have a meeting coming up in a few days, and not another one until next quarter. Our bylaws don't cover this at all. They only say that for regular elections a slate of candidates must be presented one month before the election and that nominations can also be taken from the floor. Does that mean we need to give a month's notice for a special election to fill a vacancy? Can the vacancy be filled at the election even if no notice is given at all until that moment? Previous notice must be given of an election to fill a vacancy. Such notice may be given orally at the previous meeting or included in the call of the meeting. Such notice does not need to include suggested candidates. A rule which prescribes the notice required for regular elections would not apply to filling vacancies, in my opinion.
