Guest Sheila T Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:09 PM Report Share Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:09 PM Our January '18 Board of Directors minutes were approved in February. I just now noticed an error in these minutes and will bring up at the next meeting a motion to Amend Something Previously Adopted. If the amendment passes and these minutes corrected, will we require an updated (current) approval date?
J. J. Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:11 PM Report Share Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:11 PM (edited) No, but the motion should be shown in the minutes of the meeting where the correction was made. Edited July 9, 2018 at 08:15 PM by J. J.
George Mervosh Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:13 PM Report Share Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:13 PM No, and see this. http://www.robertsrules.com/faq.html#
Sheila T Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:32 PM Report Share Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:32 PM I did see that, however, it did not clarify how to treat the original minutes, only the minutes in which the motion to amend was considered. Am I correct in assuming it is OK to go back to the original minutes and make the correction or is the correction only to remain in the minutes in which the motion to amend was considered? Thanks

Thanks A marginal notation in the original minutes sounds like a good idea to me, even though the book doesn't say that.
Dan Honemann Posted July 9, 2018 at 09:26 PM Report Share Posted July 9, 2018 at 09:26 PM As noted, a marginal notation is fine (and probably a good idea), but make no change at all in the body of the original minutes that were previously approved.
