Weldon Merritt Posted December 17, 2018 at 11:44 PM Report Share Posted December 17, 2018 at 11:44 PM Like many of my colleagues, I get annoyed by someone piggybacking on a months-old thread. I suppose it would be too time consuming for the moderators to manually lock old topics, but would it be possible to somehow set up automatic locking of threads that have been inactive for some specified period of time? I don't know. Such things are above my pay grade.
Rob Elsman Posted January 10, 2019 at 07:24 PM Report Share Posted January 10, 2019 at 07:24 PM Please don't do that. Although the thread may get stale, the topic itself probably doesn't. I would like to learn, even from old entries. 🙂
Richard Brown Posted January 10, 2019 at 08:04 PM Report Share Posted January 10, 2019 at 08:04 PM I agree with the comments above by reelsman. I think there are occasions when bringing up an old topic are beneficial. I don't see this as a big enough problem to require the locking of old threads. Gary Novosielski Posted January 11, 2019 at 02:45 AM Report Share Posted January 11, 2019 at 02:45 AM And in any case, "locking" a thread does not prevent it from being read, only from having new replies added to it.
