Guest Angie Posted December 26, 2018 at 02:43 PM Report Share Posted December 26, 2018 at 02:43 PM Can a president change a voted on and approved motion? Our organization proposed and voted on holding an event in our rental space and charge admission for New Years Eve. The vote passed per 2/3rd of the members as the motion also included moving monies in the budget to fund the event. Now the president is saying he is going to move the event to the social quarters and he has the right to do so. According to our by-laws and statues the decision of the members is final, does he have the right to move the event? Thanks, Angie

If the bylaws don't grant him any authority to change these things and RONR doesn't grant him any authority, it's incumbent upon him to document this authority he claims he has, not vice versa. Frankly, if he doesn't follow through with what the assembly has approved your group might want to consider disciplinary action against him. See §62 in RONR.
