Board term

This year we received a new dance teacher.  Our bylaws state each position is held for 2 years.  Currently this is our second year.

Can this be reset given we have a new dance teacher and this would count as first year?  We do not have much parent participation and we have normally switched positions among the few who have been on the board.

If we didn't have to change positions we all rather do that and remain same positions until next year.  if anyone can advise i would greatly appreciate it.

A rule regarding the term of office for officers and board members may not be suspended unless your group's bylaws specifically allow it.

" Rules contained in the bylaws (or constitution) cannot be suspended—no matter how large the vote in favor of doing so or how inconvenient the rule in question may be—unless the particular rule specifically provides for its own suspension, or unless the rule properly is in the nature of a rule of order as described on page 17, lines 22–25"  RONR (11th ed.), p. 263

If your bylaws say two-year terms, you cannot "reset", as Mr. Mervosh says.

But do your bylaws restrict people from being re-elected to the same positions? In other words, are there term limits in your bylaws? If not, you can try that after your current two-year terms have ended.
