Guest Jeff Posted May 9, 2019 at 02:53 PM Report Share Posted May 9, 2019 at 02:53 PM At a recent association meeting we had two committee proposals to deal with, a member claimed with authority that Roberts allows the two to be "reconciled" by discussion them made into single motion for voting. Not finding this anywhere? Thanks!
Joshua Katz Posted May 9, 2019 at 03:14 PM Report Share Posted May 9, 2019 at 03:14 PM Well, when one is moved during the committee report, motions to amend could be used to incorporate elements of the other.
Rob Elsman Posted May 9, 2019 at 03:24 PM Report Share Posted May 9, 2019 at 03:24 PM You won't find this anywhere in RONR. The assembly can Recommit a motion to a second committee after having received the report of the first committee.

jstackpo Posted May 9, 2019 at 06:29 PM Report Share Posted May 9, 2019 at 06:29 PM And, for next time, there should be only ONE committee report presented by the committee after a majority agreement (vote if necessary) by the members of the committee deciding in the exact text of the report. There can also be a "minority report" by the losers of that committee vote (RONR, page 527) but the assembly (that requested the committee to make a report) is not required to hear it. Another reason why the assembly may have had two committee reports is that the reports are from two different committees.
Gary Novosielski Posted May 10, 2019 at 02:39 AM Report Share Posted May 10, 2019 at 02:39 AM Rather than taking the time to try to hammer this out during a meeting, I'd suggest establishing a committee to do the reconciliation, appointing some or all of the members of the two reporting committees to this select committee.
