Guest Cynthia C Posted May 20, 2019 at 12:58 AM Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 at 12:58 AM If a motion is ruled out of order in a board meeting by the president because it is in violation of the bylaws, what happens next? Is there discussion about the motion ruled out of order? Does the board vote on whether the motion is out of order or not?
Rob Elsman Posted May 20, 2019 at 01:03 AM Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 at 01:03 AM Unless a member successfully gets the ruling reversed on Appeal, the motion is dead, dead, dead.
jstackpo Posted May 20, 2019 at 01:24 AM Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 at 01:24 AM And what happens next (or should if the chairman knows what he is doing), is the chair announces the next business in order (if any), or if he doesn't know of any, says "Is there in any new business?" If none, meeting adjourns.

There could be a vote on the ruling of the chair if two members (a mover and seconder) move to Appeal from the Ruling of the Chair. Otherwise, it's on to the next item of business.
