Can the president make a motion?

Recommended Posts

The new president of a board made one motion and seconded two other motions. All three were voted on and carried. Do they stand as carried or are they invalid?

And if it's not a small board, the President still has the right to make motions but is expected not to exercise it. If he does exercise it anyway, the motions stand.

See this FAQ file: click here.  This is permissible under so-called small-board rules.

Edited to add:

Oh, and the small board rules also do not require seconds at all.
