Guest Richard Posted June 26, 2019 at 08:25 PM Report Share Posted June 26, 2019 at 08:25 PM If a by-laws change vote fails to pass...(it needed 2/3 majority). Can it be voted again at the next meeting if a new motion on the same change is brought up?
jstackpo Posted June 26, 2019 at 08:28 PM Report Share Posted June 26, 2019 at 08:28 PM (edited) Nope, unless there is time to do whatever notice requirements for bylaw amendments are found in your bylaws. Atul Kapur Posted June 26, 2019 at 08:58 PM Report Share Posted June 26, 2019 at 08:58 PM To put it another way: that particular motion failed. You cannot just simply vote on it again. However, the same motion can be Renewed ("introduced as if new after having previously been made and disposed of without adoption", RONR 11th ed, p. 88). Because this is a bylaws amendment, this renewal requires a new notice, the same as the original motion did.
