A motion made we can't afford.

Someone is planing a motion to pave our gravel parking lot. we have $50,000 in our savings account. I estimate it to cost $100,000+. At the beginning of the year we created a list of other things that need done including a new roof. He has no cost estimate, scope of work or a way to fund it, just wants a new lot. How do I handle this? Thanks.

The previous responses all seem to assume that you are a member of the assembly who wants to know how to make the motion go away. If that is the case, I can't add anything of substance. But if you are the chair (as it seems you might be), you handle it during the meeting pretty much as any other motion. You certainly don't have the authority to block or veto it. But you can , before the meeting, try to line up some members who will take the steps the other responders have suggested.
