billnaff44@gmail.com Posted August 19, 2019 at 06:38 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2019 at 06:38 PM Does Robert's Rules Of Order provide a guide, or Standard of Conduct, regarding the behavior of the members of a meeting toward each other? jstackpo Posted August 19, 2019 at 06:47 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2019 at 06:47 PM (edited) Well, sorta... The whole book is a set of "standards of conduct" in meetings -- there is no explicit listing of "thou shalts" or "thou shalt nots". It is a book of (meeting) etiquette -- an "Emily Post" for business meetings. Individual departures from "good conduct" are dealt with on an individual basis via the procedures (which are themselves "standards of conduct") found in Chapter 20. George Mervosh Posted August 19, 2019 at 06:58 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2019 at 06:58 PM I think I remember our old friend Mr. Mountcastle used to say that pretty much everything you need to know regarding this subject you should have learned by the time you went to kindergarten. I think he was quite correct.

George Mervosh Posted August 19, 2019 at 08:40 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2019 at 08:40 PM See "§61. DISCIPLINE OF MEMBERS AND GUESTS " beginning on p. 643 in RONR. Also, take a look at "Decorum in Debate " beginning on p. 391.
