Guest Tom Posted January 17, 2020 at 01:32 PM Report Share Posted January 17, 2020 at 01:32 PM Our HOA has process by which Board candidates fill out petition to run. We then have forum where candidates make statement and residents can ask questions. But, the by-laws also permit nominations from the floor at the meeting when election is held. Is there any requirement to let residents ask questions any candidate nominated from the floor?

Members are free to ask questions of any candidate at the time of the election, whether or not the candidate was nominated from the floor. Requests for Information are in order. Richard Brown Posted January 17, 2020 at 05:25 PM Report Share Posted January 17, 2020 at 05:25 PM Agreeing with Mr. Martin, Your organization is also free to set aside a time for an open forum, comments by the candidates, or questions and answers with the candidates at any time prior to voting. Other than a brief statement that nominations are debatable, RONR actually has very little — almost nothing – to say about speeches by the candidates, questions and answers with the candidates, etc. Every organization is free to handle these matters in pretty much any manner it desires. The forum that your organization has with the candidates who have been self nominated is an example of such a procedure.
