peaches70 Posted May 7, 2020 at 08:24 PM Report Share Posted May 7, 2020 at 08:24 PM If a Chairman's resignation has not been accepted by the board of directors, and they appoint a new chairman to that committee without accepting the resignation what is the protocol? Chris Harrison Posted May 7, 2020 at 08:30 PM Report Share Posted May 7, 2020 at 08:30 PM Although the Board may not have explicitly accepted the resignation it would seem they implicitly accepted it by filling the vacancy. Of course, in the future it might be better if they tighten up their procedure and accept the resignation first before picking their successor. Richard Brown Posted May 7, 2020 at 09:46 PM Report Share Posted May 7, 2020 at 09:46 PM I agree with Mr. Harrison. By filling the vacancy, the board has by implication accepted the resignation. That assumes, of course, that the board is authorized to accept resignations and to fill vacancies.
