Guest Ann Posted May 13, 2020 at 03:54 PM Report Share Posted May 13, 2020 at 03:54 PM I am a member of an organization that has under 12 on their board. The question is: Can the ex-officio (former president) be nominated and serve as a director of the board?

The question is: Can the ex-officio (former president) be nominated and serve as a director of the board? I would first note that this isn't what "ex-officio" means. An ex-officio position is one which is held by virtue of some other office the person holds. It does not mean a former officer. In any event, however, the answer to the question is "yes, unless the organization's bylaws provide otherwise."
