Guest Linda T-L Posted May 24, 2020 at 03:04 AM Report Share Posted May 24, 2020 at 03:04 AM Can an executive session be called for an entire regular session for the purpose of getting through an agenda rather than for the specific purpose of dealing with a specific issue. Our bylaws do not address executive sessions. What are the specific reasons executive sessions can be called if there is nothing in the bylaws. Gary Novosielski Posted May 24, 2020 at 03:14 AM Report Share Posted May 24, 2020 at 03:14 AM For ordinary societies, you can go into executive session at any time for any reason you deem advisable. For public bodies, State sunshine laws will set limits on what can and can't be done in executive session. I'm not clear why you believe executive session will get you through an agenda any quicker that not. The only difference is that the content of the executive session is kept confidential. If there's no need for secrecy, there's no need for executive session, and the speed that business gets done should be the same in either case.
