You can try getting the two candidates (assuming there are only two) to flip a coin and for the loser to voluntarily withdraw. If a ballot vote is not required, and one candidate withdraws, the remaining candidate can be declared the winner. However, if your bylaws require a ballot vote, then such a vote must be taken even though there is only one candidate remaining since write-ins are permissible and members may even write in the name of the candidate who withdrew.
